8.22.14 Dancing Coyote Wines
- On September 4, 2014
You will be happy to hear that the new floor is done! It’s still a little stinky in here (fumes from the floor) but come in and check it out! We are featuring Dancing Coyote wines from the Clarksburg AVA just south of Sacramento, California and you can come and taste a few of their wines this Saturday from 2-5pm.
Legend has it that coyotes come down from the nearby hills at the beginning of the growing season and wreak havoc on the irrigation lines and play or “dance” around in the vineyards which gave name to the winery. Dancing Coyote is a family owned and operated winery that’s been in existence since 2001. The winery was originally a granary built in 1868 and then converted into a winery for port in the early 1900’s. They have significantly updated the space with temperature controlled rooms for barrels and storage of bottled wine and extensive stainless steel tank storage capacity. They produce over ten different varietals of wine, many of which are predominately produced in European countries and are not as common in California such as Gruner Veltliner, a crisp and spicy white made famous in Austria. They also produce a Tempranillo which originally hails from Spain. We carry both of these as well as the Chenin Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, and Petite Sirah. There focus is on true expression of the fruit and use minimal new oak, and winemaking practices that help showcase the terroir of Clarksburg.
The three wines below will be poured this Saturday from 2-5 along with some other delicious offerings from Jon of Tradition Wines & Spirits. It’s the perfect opportunity to come and see how great the store looks!
Gruner Veltliner $13.49 Sale $12.14, Gewurztraminer $9.99 Sale $8.99,
Tempranillo $13.99 Sale $12.59
