- On June 20, 2019
What better way to celebrate summer than with a gathering of good friends, good food, and good drinks? While a nice cold beer is a barbeque staple, there are plenty of unique cocktails you can whip up to impress and refresh your guests. Try out the following summer drink recipes and make a splash at your next backyard soiree.
Frosé
Frozen beverages are a great way to cool off, and rosé is quickly becoming this season’s wine of choice. You can combine the two with the aptly named frosé. To make this pink drink, throw the following in a blender:
- Lemon
- Sugar
- Strawberries
- Frozen rosé
Blend the mixture until it reaches a slushy consistency and serve in wine glasses. For an extra icy element, you can use frozen strawberries in place of fresh.
Woo Woo
This summer drink will have you shouting its name in celebration of a sweet treat. Fruity and colorful, you can create this beverage by mixing the following:
- Cranberry juice
- Peach schnapps
- Vodka
- Lime juice
When you’re done, pour over ice and garnish each drink with a lime wedge. To create a homey feel, you can serve in mason jars instead of glasses.
Pimm’s Iced Tea
This beverage updates a Southern favorite with a fruity twist. Start by brewing black tea with mint. Next, add sugar until you reach your preferred sweetness, then chill. Once cool, zest things up by adding Pimm’s No. 1, orange juice, and lemon juice. Serve with slices of strawberries, lemons and oranges.
Apple Prosecco Punch
Looking for something simple and a little different? Apple Prosecco Punch proves that the best summer drinks don’t need to be complicated. To make this cocktail, mix together the following:
- Vodka
- Lemon juice
- Apple juice
Once you’re done, chill the mixture for up to two hours. To serve, add prosecco, pour over ice, then add lemon and apple slices.
White Wine
You can never go wrong with a white wine in summertime due to its light flavor. Whether you’re taking a break from BBQ cleanup to watch the sunset or looking for an easy crowd-pleaser for your next event, white wine is an easy go-to summertime favorite.
Watermelon Gin Spritzer
If you prefer drinks that are less flash and more substance, but still thirst for a refreshing cocktail, the Watermelon Gin Spritzer can strike the perfect balance. Simply toss lime, ice cubes, and watermelon pieces into your favorite glass, then top with gin and chilled tonic water.
Long Amaretto Sours
Fans of tartness may enjoy these simple, yet elegant cocktails. To make, chill a mixture of Disaronno and lemon juice. When you’re ready to serve, pour over ice and add chilled soda water.
