Bruichladdich (pronounced Brook-laddy) Distillery was built in 1881 on the famous Islay island off the Southwest coast of Scotland. They produce whisky with exclusively Scottish barley, and some bottlings with 100% Islay barley, naming specific farms and fields when applicable. Their main Bruichladdich line is unpeated, while the Port Charlotte bottlings are heavily peated, a homage to the now-closed Port Charlotte distillery two miles down the coast. Also, Bruichladdich creates The Botanist Gin, named for the two local botanists who collect the 22 locally picked, wild Islay botanicals.
