Halloween Beer Picks
- On October 29, 2015
Whether you’re hosting a raging party or sipping on a little something after taking the kids trick-or-treating, Halloween is a great holiday to enjoy some beer. Here are a few quick picks to savor this weekend!
Southern Tier “Pumpking”: The king of all pumpkin beers, this annual favorite has a sweet amber base, along with just the right balance of pumpkin and spice. At 8.6% ABV it’s a fine slow-sipper to enjoy with a good horror film.
Stone “Enjoy By 10/31/15”: Stone’s latest offering in the “Enjoy By” series, in which every batch of beer is named for it’s freshness date to ensure a high quality experience. This massive IPA is dank, dry, and delicious. A true palate-destroyer with gargoyle-themed artwork and “10/31” stamped on every bottle, this one’s an easy pick for Halloween.
Unibroue “La Fin Du Monde”: This French-Canadian made, Belgian-inspired golden ale is so delicious that you’d be content if it truly brought about “the end of the world”. An effervescent brew with bright aromas of banana and earthy spice, plus some light hoppy bitterness to cleanse the palate. It’s another one that will warm you up at 9%ABV.
Bent Paddle “Cold Press Black”: This is my pick to pair with Halloween candy, specifically chocolate. The base beer is Bent Paddle’s Black Ale, which is very close in style to an American Porter, featuring an opaque-dark appearance and roasty aromas and flavors akin to dark chocolate and coffee. The Black Ale is then blended with straight-up espresso, adding even more robust roast character. Use this one to stay up late and break into the leftover candy stash.
Cheers!
