Thanksgiving is just around the corner and the weather has caught up and it feels like holiday time. To help you with your wine shopping we are featuring 14+ different wines that are perfect for the big Thanksgiving meal, hostess gifts, and family and friend get-togethers. You will be able to taste two of these wines this Friday from 4-7pm.
The first is a perfect thanksgiving meal/family wine and comes in a Liter size bottle which we love! Weingut Furst Elbling comes from the Mosel in Germany. Elbling is a grape varietal that many of us have not come across but it has a very long history dating back to the Roman times. It has similar parentage to Riesling and can be traced back to the Rhine. Today most of the Elbling grown is used to make German sparkling wines called sekt. As a still wine it’s fruity, fresh, and has great acid. This is sure to be a crowd pleaser and it’s on sale: $12.85/ $14.99.
The 2nd wine is for those of you that know you’re “supposed to” have Riesling, Pinot Noir, or Gamay for Thanksgiving but you really like the big bold reds and you just want to drink what you like! We’ve got the perfect wine for you and it still keeps in the Thanksgiving theme with its great label (pictured). Jesse Skiles, the wine maker of Fausse Piste was a cook in his first life and translates his love of food into food friendly wines made in the Pacific Northwest. Garde Manger is a Syrah from Columbia Valley, Washington and the name literally translates to the “keeper of the food” aka “the pantry”. This delicious bottle (Sale $18.89/$22.99) might just make you the “keeper of the wine” at your thanksgiving get-together.
